SecurityEduardo A. Barranco, Merchant Corrdinator for Crime Watch of Pembroke Pines writes:
More than 50% of all crimes committed in the city of Pembroke Pines are either “Larceny from a Motor Vehicle” or “Auto Theft”; therefore we all should be careful. The following recommendations can help you avoid being the victim of one of these crimes.DON’T TEMPT A THIEF TO STEAL YOUR CAR!

Here are a few anti-theft pointers anybody can follow:

  • Remove the ignition key, even when you will be gone for only a few minutes.
  • Lock the doors and close the windows when you park, even at a gas station.
  • Park in a well-lighted area at night.
  • Keep valuables out of sight when you leave the car, even when it is for just a moment. Lock them in the trunk or cover them up.
  • Use a steering wheel locking device every time you park your car.
  • Install an alarm system and activate it when you leave your car.
  • Have your car windows etched with the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number).
  • Scratch your initials inside the trunk and under the hood to help police identify your car should it be stolen.
  • Slide your calling card along one or more windows so that it drops inside the door panel to provide hidden evidence of your ownership.
  • Take your license, registration and other identifying papers with you. If you leave them in the glove compartment, they can be used by a thief.
