10/30 Hurricane Wilma Update
Posted on Sunday, October 30, 2005 @ 22:16:02 CST by kguske
Common Areas, LandscapingMuch has happened since the previous posting. Please click READ MORE link above for additional details on the current status of the Hurricane Wilma recovery update. TREES

The HOA board met yesterday (Saturday) to discuss repairs to the common areas. We WILL arrange for trees in the swales to be restored (not replaced). The landscaper has been working in the community for the last 4 days and will be back to work on the rest at the end of this week. In the mean time, please keep the roots of fallen trees wet by watering them daily.

The city will be picking up landscaping debris in the swale areas in front of each home. The schedule has not been set yet. As long as the landscaping debris is in the swale, they will pick it up. They will be entering gated communities.

The city also advises that there is no date for pick up of aluminum debris and other miscellaneous debris as of this date. Please check the city’s website for update information on trash and debris pick up.

Still no word on the return of recycling, bulky waste or household hazardous waste collection, but Pembroke Pines told one resident that they expect trucks to be here on THURSDAY to remove hurricane / landscape debris.

First, the HOA cannot enter contracts with anyone to make repairs to private property. However, as a community, we can collectively request assistance from contractors to minimize repetitive communication and give contractors incentives to offer repair services to a large group, rather than to an individual. By coordinating communications with a contractor, we can minimize the time he needs to be on the phone answering common questions.

I spoke yesterday with a licensed general contractor, who was visiting friends in Stoneridge, about providing repair services to roofs, screens, and fences - all of which he do. Various individuals are contacting supply companies for roofing materials to match our various colors, etc., and we will provide updates as they are available.

Mark Samstad will be distributing flyers tomorrow evening with some additional information. If you would like to have the contractor contact you about repairs, please send feedback on this site or call me at 954-816-7530 to provide the following information:
  • Name
  • Street address
  • Phone Number
  • Desired repairs (i.e. roof, screen, fence)

After collecting this information, I will provide it to the contractor, Elite Construction, so that they may begin contacting individual homeowners for estimates and scheduling resources and supplies accordingly.

Please post any questions, comments, suggestions, in the forums.
